The Regional Office for Eastern Africa of the United Nations Office on Drugs And Crime (UNODC ROEA) in collaboration with the Eastern Africa Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (EAAACA) is organizing a four-day regional conference hosted by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission of Kenya to Fast-track the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in East Africa.

The Regional Conference will mark the beginning of the second phase of the platform which is funded by the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

The regional conference of the Eastern Africa Anti-Corruption Platform taking place in Nairobi-Kenya was this morning officially opened by Mr Felix Kosky, Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Kenya with a call on all stakeholders to strengthen the fight against corruption and recovery of assets across the region.
The President of the Eastern Africa Association of Anti-corruption Authorities and Inspector General of the Government of Uganda, appreciated Mr Felix Kosky for attending the meeting as this showed the commitment of the Government to Kenya to fight corruption. She urged the anti-corruption agencies and stakeholders to mobilize the public to participate and own the war against corruption as they were the main victims of poor quality service delivery.  The President also appreciated UNODC for collaborating with EAAACA to organize the regional conference which was a milestone in eradicating corruption in the region.  She reiterated the commitment of EAAACA to promote regional collaboration.

The Deputy CEO of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission of Kenya Mr. Abdi Mohamud noted that the conference provided an opportunity for the region to reaffirm their commitment and aspirations to prevent, detect, and deter more effectively international transfers of illicitly acquired assets and to strengthen international cooperation.
